A used Japanese car is likely to be far more reliable than almost any other, according to the latest annual survey carried out by used car warranty provider Warranty Direct, and What Car? Magazine. The survey used data taken from Warranty Direct’s 50,000 ‘live’ policies, which cover cars between three and 10 years old. How I got rid of my old rusty Fiat and finally got a sexy Japanese

I was once a young man (not that long ago!) with no great expectations about life, no plans for the future and with one certainty only: one day I was going to be able to afford a ‘real’ car.

It is well known that Japanese car makers are considered the best in terms of quality, and the value for money you get when buying one of their cars is unquestionable. However, for various reasons I have always driven European ones, with different outcomes: I always preferred German cars (I had an old Polo once), whom I appreciate for their quality and solid engines, even though a little bit too expensive. My father was a big French cars lover: he had one Renault and a couple of Citroën, which were just OK. French cars are praised for their design, but I have always had the feeling that the quality of the materials, especially internally (the dashboard feels like will fall down to your feet sooner or later) was quite low. With my savings, I managed to replace my aged VW Polo as it stopped working too many times (getting stuck in the traffic jam without being able to move is not a nice sensation, especially if that happens more than once!) and bought a second-hand Fiat Grande Punto. I remember the car dealer (a small, chubby and quite hairy man) saying how lucky I was to get such an amazing deal and that I would not regret it. The Fiat Punto was, apparently, the perfect car for me.

Less than two years have passed since then and I am still trying to get in touch with that car dealer who sold me a piece of rusty metal promising me that I was buying a very good car. I think he might be in jail at this time.

I was desperate at one point, determined to buy another car which could finally satisfy my needs and last long enough, without costing me a fortune.

So, convinced by my friend, I eventually decided to have a look for some quality cars from the Far East. He took me to several used car dealers in Wales so I could view as many cars as possible, and I realized something: Japanese cars are actually better than European ones. At the end, I decided to buy a Honda Civic 3-doors Type-S, and believe it or not, I am extremely happy about it. With a brilliant 1.4 engine and 6 speed transmission, driving this car becomes really good fun. The accuracy and the quality of the materials used are also remarkable, making this car an amazing (and cheaper) alternative to those more expensive cars such as the Audi A3, the BMW 1 Series and the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The design is quite aggressive and sporty, you either like it or not, but high performance is guaranteed as well as fun while driving. I mean, don’t get me wrong: it’s not that I hate Europeans now, I just fell in love with Japanese, simple as that!

Would You Drive a Chinese Car?

After World War II, you can bet that most people would never in their lifetime believe that they would ever drive a Japanese car for instance, but now almost a third of every car on the road is made by a Japanese company. Some of these companies are subsidiaries of companies during World War II which made ships, military aircraft, and military weapons.

And mind you, the United States doesn’t have anywhere near that type of history which China. Still, many of the unions in the United States demand that all American consumers buy American first. In fact, I’d also like to remind you that the Chinese cars are coming, and they will be somewhere between 10 and ,000 for basic hybrid’s or all-electric vehicles.
